The Renaissance Festival

Arnika and I went to the Renaissance Festival this past weekend. We were supposed to go with a large group of friends, but we drove in separate cars and believe or not we both ran out of battery in our cellphones.. the park was so large that we could not find our friends.

It was quite far, and with road construction contributing to the slow traffic it took us almost 2 hours to get there. We had a great time, though.

Check out some of the views of this festival!

Arnika tried the ropes, which bounce you super high haha Unfortunately my phone died taking these pictures so you can't see how high she went:

The idea is to spend an afternoon on what is supposed to resemble a medieval city.

Here are some more pictures:

Every single building is a store of some kind, and there is absolutely nothing to do for free or included in the (expensive) ticket. We didn't appreciate the concept of charging to get in and then spending more to do every single little thing, but overall we enjoyed the time there. Probably won't be back in the upcoming years though.

Game night!

Last week Lidiane, Vihn and Alejandro came over for a game night. It was really great, we had dinner and played until late hours.

At the end, everyone won! :)

Harvesting green beans

Finally some of my plants yielded something I could harvest! :)

One of these days I noticed the beans were ready to be collected, so Arnika and I looked around trying to find the ones that were ready to be eaten. It doesn't get more organic than that!

We cooked those that same night!

Back in activity!

Hey folks!
Sorry for taking so long to update the blog, these last days have been extremely rushed and I spent a good part of this past week without internet connection in my apartment. But now I'm back!

I'll post a few pictures of things that happened since the last update.

YMCA's kids karate tournament

This past weekend the YMCA held it's internal kids tournament. I helped setting things up and judging kata.
The kids had a blast, everyone had fun! Here are some pictures of the event:

Srila Prabhupada's disappearance day

Tragedy was Srila Prabhupada's disappearance day, and a special program was held at the Houston Hare Krishna temple.

Arnika and I stayed for a bit, then came home to sleep early. We've been trying to adjust or routines to sleep early and wake up early. So far it's working, but we still need to make some adjustments not to be sleepy on the next day hehe

Diwali at home

This last Sunday was the Diwali festival, known as the festival of lights. The temple was very nice, I'll post some pictures later tonight. We had out own Diwali at home as well :)
